Welcome

I’m a clinical psychologist in private practice, and a psychoanalytic candidate at NYU (“NYU Postdoc”).

This site provides information about me and my practice. I hope it supports you in obtaining the help that you seek!

What is

Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis?

Psychotherapeutic treatment (whether “therapy” or “analysis”) is many things, and difficult to capture in a sentence. It is also a different experience for everyone, and can evade grasp without personal experience. Nonetheless, I’ve attempted to capture it with a variety of definitions:

  • A treatment (contrary to commonly held belief, rather than a consumer service!) for psychological pain and troubles in living, which can fall anywhere along a broad spectrum of intensity and type.

  • A collaboration between patient and therapist, both willing and driven to engage in the work.

  • An adventure – potentially rocky, stormy and frightening, as well as serene, relieving and freeing – of carefully guided unearthing, re-working, and healing one’s internal world and ability to live well.

  • A whole that is much greater and different than the sum of its parts, and which is integrated into life as it is lived, both during and after treatment.

  • A complex interplay of art and science supported, informed and guided by research.

Who can benefit?

People of all ages and backgrounds may benefit from psychoanalytic treatment. Anyone can experience anguish and suffering, and/or seek greater fulfillment and joy in life. No one escapes the human condition, regardless of income, education, ethnicity, politics, religiosity, sexual orientation, gender identity, sociocultural background, personality, family structure, or any other factor. All are welcome to reach out for a brief phone consultation to explore the prospect of starting treatment.
